World’s biggest smartphone chip maker, Qualcomm, from the United States of America, got a huge fine from Chinese authorities because it came out that the company is guilty for breaching national antitrust regulations. Because of this, the American company has to pay an impressive amount of 975 million dollars! Qualcomm didn’t contest in any way the decision, but ended up in a big disappointing situation.

They are dissapointed

This is because, the company’s representatives believe that the investigation took place more than a year, time in which Qualcomm continued to make significant investments on the Chinese market. Apart from this situation, the firm from the United States will continue to collaborate with China, considering that this country is the biggest smartphone consumer from the World with more than half a billion of devices working there.

Official statement

Regarding this situation and regarding the things that follows it, even the CEO of Qualcomm said a few interesting words in a press release: “We are pleased that the resolution has removed the uncertainty surrounding our business in China, and we will now focus our full attention and resources on supporting our customers and partners in China and pursuing the many opportunities ahead.”
