An interesting move might take place on the market of smartphones. At least interesting! I don’t want to say it is strange, but the numbers say something else. It is about Samsung’s rumored intention of buying BlackBerry, a company which now has less than 1 percent of the smartphones from the market. As a comparison, Samsung has around three quarters!

BlackBerry, once market leader

A decade ago, BlackBerry was the best in this domain and four years ago had 10 percent of the total sales, for example, Apple has now 12 percent! All began to fall since then and this is why many are asking themselves why in the Earth is Samsung interested in this deal. Some answers may appear if we think a bit of their strategy and what BlackBerry can do, but nothing is sure at this moment.

Is Samsung aiming for BlackBerry patents?

Even though they decreased significantly, BlackBerry still remains number one on the smartphone market when it comes to security. This is why many government agencies and military services use this device as primary one. So, if Samsung bought it might have access to its strategy and patents things which might help them a lot to develop on this side of the market. Now, we don’t know for sure if the deal will take place and when this might happen, but it is a thing to watch and follow.
