Android, iOS and Windows are the most popular operating systems among smartphones from all over the world. Soon, it looks like a fourth OS will make competition to those. Unfortunately for smartphone users from the United States of America, it will first come only in Europe and no information about when it will also appear in the U.S. aren’t ready until this moment. Ops, I didn’t mention its name, so you must know that it is called Ubuntu and will firstly be available with a device called BQ Aquaris E 4.5 Ubuntu Edition.

Powered by Linux

BQ is a small smartphone producer from Spain, while the Ubuntu OS will have at its base the Linux. To conclude what this is really all about, a statement from Jane Silber, CEO of Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, was revealed: "The launch of the first Ubuntu smartphones is a significant milestone. The new experience we deliver for users, as well as the opportunities for differentiation for manufacturers and operators, are a compelling and much-needed change from what is available today. We're excited that a rising star like BQ has recognized this opportunity and is helping us make it a reality."

The price, 190 dollars

Of course, as I said, it won’t be available soon in the United States, but from 10th of February, the smartphone containing this OS will be officially launched in Europe. So if you are interested in ordering one or something, check out some details about it! First of all, let us say that it will cost a bit more than 190 dollars and also it will have a 5-MP front facing camera, which looks pretty awesome, and the following other characteristics: 4.5-inch display with a quite modest 540 x 960 pixels resolution. It also comes up with a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, it doesn't allow for LTE connectivity, and there's an 8-GB storage memory.
