Apple remains the only company with smartphones that have Touch ID technology, even though it was expected also that Nexus 6 will get some of those functions. Still, the 6 inch phablet made by Motorola under Google is missing the fingerprint verification scanner and all the situation is caused exactly by Apple. It may look a bit strange but we will tell you exactly why they reached this situation.

Apple got Nexus patent

IPhones’ producers wanted to make sure that nobody else will use the same technology so they purchased the Nexus 6's would-be supplier of fingerprint scanning technology, AuthenTech, in 2012. This is how they got in control of the finger tech patent of Nexus. So, the former intention of former Motorola board to place a fingerprint sensor on the Nexus 6 device fell apart and it remained so because of the stuff mentioned above.

iPhone 5 was the first

This way, Apple remains without competition at this point. And it is to mention that this company has biometrics on its smartphone strategy plan dating back to the iPhone 5, which included Touch ID, yet Apple had no mobile payments platform to leverage the biometric tech capability. We believe that is just a matter of time when other companies will also adapt in somehow this technology which seems quite useful.
