From childhood we heard that watching TV influence very much our brain. That is definitely true. At least as true that the usage of laptops, tablets and smartphones bring a lot of information of what we can do with your brain. So, yes, the typing on our smartphones touchscreens influences so much our brain that many researches want to study this problem deeply.

Researches in the University of Zurich

One of them is Arko Ghosh of the University of Zurich who realized that smartphones represented an unexpected opportunity to investigate the everyday plasticity, or as we may say, the changeability of the human brain as people are increasingly using their thumbs and fingertips in brand new ways: "I think first we must appreciate how common personal digital devices are and how densely people use them. What this means for us neuroscientists is that the digital history we carry in our pockets has an enormous amount of information on how we use our fingertips (and more)".

The brain is more challenged

For doing this analyze, the scientist along with his team see how finger and thumb are used on these devices and after make some connections with the direct brain activity. After, the results are compared to the ones of kind of old-school people who don’t use a smartphone with touch screen, but basic devices, with buttons. What are the initial results? This is a question at which the most authorized answer belongs to the same Arko Ghosh: "We propose that cortical sensory processing in the contemporary brain is continuously shaped by personal digital technology, they write. I was really surprised by the scale of the changes introduced by the use of smartphones". So, it apparently looks that smartphone use challenges your brain much more than do ordinary cell phones and this process will increase for sure in the future I guess.
