Going and fighting in a war might be very hard, but not as hard as the idea that you have to be separated from your family and without at least can keep in touch with them by phone or something. Yes, right, because American soldiers are not allowed to have cell phones with them while overseas fighting for the red, white and blue because GPS signals could compromise troops' security. Now, Holydays approach and the separation becomes horrible. But there is a way in which the brave men can hear their beloved for one hour.

Funds collected from old phones
This year, a decade went since a nonprofit organization is struggling to make the soldiers’ Christmas sweeter. With an unconventional way of dealing with getting the necessary funds, Cell Phones for Soldiers collect old cell phones, strip them down and sell the usable parts. That money is collected and loaded onto prepaid phone cards and mailed to the soldiers in different corners of the World. For just two dollars, a soldier can call home for one hour.

210 million minutes of free talk in ten years
Another good fact for them is that they don't use the full hour of time, it rolls over to the next time they have a chance to make the call. The problem being that they don’t get too many such opportunities though… To realize the impact and the importance of this good deed service, let’s speak a bit in numbers sand say that in 10 years, more than 11 million cell phones were donated to Cell Phone for Soldiers and thanks to those, more than 210 million minutes of free talk have assisted military members according to the organizations’ web site. On average, the program mails approximately 7,500 calling cards each week.
