The iPhone and smartphone fever raised to enormous standards in the past few years. Now, only the idea to have an old ordinary cell phone seems odd or funny. But this isn’t available for all customers and all cell phone users – which, by the way, are fewer and fewer as day pass – because retro ‘gadgets’ can be quite cool for nostalgic cell phone users, or for younger customers, who definitely didn’t have a cell phone in the ’80, most of them because, probably, they weren’t born back then. For those two categories, and not only them, appeared now a unexpected solution at the initiative of the board from Binatone, a UK-based cell phone company. We’re talking here about a device that reminds nostalgic about the past and may satisfy the curiosity of teenagers or youngsters who were wondering what type of cell phones were their parents using, considering that back than smartphones didn’t exist.

It has a long removable antenna

Of course, the gadget only reminds about the past because in reality it is a hybrid between vintage and modern, between old and new, between sophisticated and simplicity. It has a long removable antenna, Bluetooth, a SIM card slot, micro SD slot for music, FM with no headphones required and LED flashlight. You can use it as a conventional mobile phone if you put in a SIM card or, if you prefer, you can pair it using Bluetooth with your existing phone and use it as a Bluetooth 'handset'. The loud speakerphone can also be used for conference calls or to play music.

Want one? You need 40 dollars

Clearly, the weight of old phones was quite a problem so even though it keeps a big number of its initial characteristics, like large backlit buttons, a dead-simple interface, a colour screen and a nicely designed earpiece. The 2,000 mAh battery is good to power this phone for several days (continuous use) or give it a standby time of a month! Because of the power of its battery you can even use the full size USB port to charge another phone and for fun you have to know that it includes the old snake game. Despite of this, it is much lighter than its ancestors and costs somewhere around 25 pound or around 40 dollars.
