IPhones were always a nice target for thieves, considering their popularity and the money which you can make by selling them. Of course, such phenomenon is widely spread in metropolis. We will give the example of London, New York and San Francisco because these big cities had big problems in the past. Not like the problems disappeared now, but they’ve reduced considerably after the Apple introduced the kill switches in September 2013 through iDevices. Starting then, the thefts decreased between one quarter and a half, depending on which city we are referring to.

50 percent drop in London, 25 percent in New York

For example, in London, things improved with 50 percent, while in New York with only 25 percent. Good numbers when it comes to this chapter happen in San Francisco, because there the number of stolen iPhones dropped in one year and three months with 40 percent. So what does this system, used also by Google and Samsung can do? I mean the killed switches. Just like kill switches in vehicles that cause engine lockdown, the feature works similarly for smartphones - locking down the handsets remotely in the event they are pinched.

Microsoft it is next

So, the tool seems to work very good and this is the reason for which many other companies want to implement it for their smartphones after the three mentioned above.
