Starting Wednesday, 11th of February 2015, the law regarding the interdiction of cell phone service providers to forbid you unlock your SIM became officially. This situation was dealt by President Barack Obama back in the summer of 2014, when the intention of making such a law appeared and now it became true. So, carriers aren’t allow to forbid you unlock your phone and change to whatever other company you want, but still you have to be careful, because some have slippery rules and you might have a few headaches if you make a decision before you think good at it.

Make sure it is compatible

You can change your service provider whenever you want, but first you should make sure that after you’ll unlock your SIM it will be compatible with the new provider of which services you want to get. I mean, you know, if you unlock your phone, it is not necessary to work in every network or with every MVNO. Most of them don’t, so be aware! Especially if you use a GSM phone, make sure that when you want to move to another company it also uses this service, or at least you can do something to get access to the CDMA network.
