First announced in December, the merge between Alaska Communication and General Communication took finally place. Because of this, the first mentioned name of the two stopped functioning, but this won’t affect its customers from now, at least not in the recent future because no notable changes will happen with the plans that they have. The action was completed after paying to Alaska Communication a sum of 300 million dollars which it looks like they will use to pay off their debts and also invest in another branch, their broadband business.

Official position

For now, any other details of the transaction didn’t appear but we will inform you as soon as news will be delivered by the two companies. Until then, here you can read an official statement from Alaska Communications CEO and President, Anand Vadapalli: “Our broadband assets are already yielding industry-leading revenue growth. As we focus our attention and resources on reliable broadband and managed IT solutions, we look to be the partner of choice for Alaska businesses.” We might say that they have pretty big plans for their future so just let things pass and see what it ends up.
